Success at Seton Keough: Highlights of Fall 2006
Seton Keough had another fabulous fall. The school year began with the largest enrollment in years. The school welcomed 150 freshmen from 55 feeder schools. The first weeks of school, Gator Circle and Caton Avenue experienced gridlock as everyone adjusted to the increased number of students. In addition, Seton Keough’s students—our future fellow alumnae—succeeded on many levels:
- The National Merit Scholarship Corporation named senior Allison Smith a Commended Scholar.
- Eighteen Seton Keough students were named Maryland Distinguished Scholars, and 11 students were named AP Scholars for their achievement on the AP exams last spring.
- Eight Seton Keough students participated in the Annual Archdiocesan Mathematics Competition held at Calvert Hall High School last November.
- The Seton Keough A Cappella and Concert Choirs were invited to perform with high school choruses from around the country at Disney's Candlelight Processional Ceremony at Epcot Center on Sunday Dec. 10. You may view a photo of them poolside in Disney on the Seton Keough Web site.
- Senior Megan McQuillan was named a state finalist for the Wendy’s High School Trophy. Megan was one of only 20 students chosen from the state of Maryland. Finalists are high school students who excel in athletics, academics, and community service.
- The Seton Keough Theater Department produced a spectacular version of Annie the third weekend in November. Annie was a huge community event with almost 100 students from Seton Keough and other area Catholic schools participating.
- Eleven student-athletes were selected to the All-Metro and All-City teams by the Baltimore Sun including senior Kelsey Lisle who was named the All-City Player-of-the Year for volleyball, and senior Lindsay Wilson who was named the All-City Runner-of-the-Year.
- Nine student-athletes were selected to the IAAM All-Star teams.
- Latest news: Seton Keough's varsity basketball team beat McDonogh last Fri., Jan. 12 and came back the next day to beat local rival Mt. De Sales.
