Requirements

Students must complete one credit in fine arts either music or art.

The Seton Keough Art Department offers classes from basic drawing and design to advance photography, ceramics, and honors and AP Fine Arts studio for students who wish to study art in college. The Art Department has two large studios and a drawing room.

Course Offerings:

Fundamentals of Design
This course explores the elements and principles of design – the building blocks from which all art is created.

Drawing
This course picks up where Fundamentals of Design ends and will further the student’s explorations of design. Those intending to take higher level courses will begin to develop a Fine Arts Portfolio.

Ceramics
This is an introduction to the art of using clay.

Advanced Ceramics
Explore various methods of working with clay, such as throwing on the wheel, glazing, and firing.

Basic Photography
Students will explore the aesthetic applications of the medium of black and white photography. Through lecture, demonstration, and critique, students will study the fundamental principles of photography, learn basic camera functions, film processing and darkroom printing.

Advanced Photography
During this course, students will continue to explore aesthetic principles of black and white photography.

Fine Arts Studio
Explore higher levels of drawing, painting, printmaking, and sculpture while continuing to prepare a Fine Arts portfolio.

Fine Arts Studio (AP)
This course is designed for those who wish to apply their work to the AP Studio Art Portfolio.
