Requirements:

Seton Keough students must take two semesters or one credit of technology. The first course (required) is Applied Computers and Keyboarding. This course must be taken before any other technology course.

The Computer Information Management Department of Seton Keough High School strives to instill the ethical use of computer technology in today's society, while integrating it into the students' personal and professional lives. The students will be gaining knowledge of the many uses of Microsoft Office 2010, Java programming, web design, and handling their personal finance depending on the curriculum they choose.

Computer Science (Courses that Count Towards the Technology Credit)

• Applied Computers-required for graduation-Introduction to Microsoft Office 2010 programs

Students may enroll in one of the following courses to fulfill the other 1/2 technology credit.

• Excel 2010-Introduction to the applications and uses of micro-computing spreadsheets
• Word 2010-Introduction to the capabilities and uses of Word 2010
• Web Design (Honors)-Creating valid hypermedia documents to standards set by the World Wide Web Consortium
• Introduction to Program Design (Honors)-Introduction to computer programming using the Java programming language
• AP Computer Science-College-prep course for potential computer science majors and a foundation course for students planning to study in other technical fields such as engineering

Business/Management Electives

• Personal Finance-The course is open to juniors and seniors and teaches the fundamentals of money management
• Principles of Management-The course is open to juniors and seniors and focuses on integrating the activities of business enterprise.
