Guidance

Welcome to Seton Keough’s Guidance Department! The guidance staff assists students in a variety of areas.

Guidance counselors are available to provide personal, academic and college counseling. Our Guidance Assistant, Mrs. Davey, assists students with work permits, MVA learner’s permits and transcript requests.

Each student is assigned a counselor to assist with academic issues and to provide guidance with course selection, personal issues, and college planning.

Please navigate to the links on the left for academic counseling, personal counseling, and college counseling.

Learner's Permit School Attendance Certification

Students under the age of 16 applying for a Learner’s Permit must complete a Learner’s Permit School Attendance Certification Form before they will be allowed to take the test. Forms are available on-line at Maryland MVA web site; or students may obtain a copy from the Guidance Office. This form is to be completed and signed by the student and parent/guardian before bringing it to school to be verified. Ms. Davey in the Guidance Office will complete the form and return it to the student in a sealed envelope. Students are NOT TO OPEN the envelope before giving it to the MVA. If it is opened, it will not be accepted.

Work Permits

Students under the age of 18 are required to complete a Work Permit before beginning a job. Work permit applications are available on-line or students may obtain one from the Guidance Office. The work permit will only be processed by the Guidance Office after the employer and parent sections are completed and signed. See Mrs. Davey if you have any questions. Also, information about work permits can be found at Maryland Department of Labor, Licensing, and Regulation web site.
