There are times when students face challenges outside of the classroom. These challenges are varied, but examples might include difficulty transitioning to high school, relationship issues with friends or family members, challenges with time management, and overcoming personal slumps or low times. Counselors are available to talk about these issues and to assist. However, when problems are beyond the scope of the counselor’s training, referrals to appropriate professionals outside of school may be made.
Students are encouraged to make an appointment with their guidance counselor as needed. There are also times when a friend or a teacher may refer a student to the guidance office. In this case, the guidance counselor will seek out the student to try to address the issue.
