Admissions
Guidance and College Placement
The guidance office, staffed with three full-time, experienced counselors, offers support for students throughout their entire four years at Seton Keough. The guidance office offers: individual and group counseling, academic advisement college counseling, a college planning seminar class for juniors, service learning opportunities, and peer mediation support.
For the last several years, 100 percent of the graduating seniors were accepted into college. The college process begins during the freshmen year, preparing students for the adjustment into high school and continues until they are seniors. During third quarter, juniors attend a junior seminar class where they begin to research college choices as well as visit local college campuses. During the fourth quarter, all junior English classes work on essay assignments to prepare students for writing the college essay.
Naviance college search software has been added to the guidance office, which is a Web-based system that allows students, parents and guidance counselors to search, organize, analyze and personalize the entire college process. Students and parents are able to access this information from home.
Personalized attention is the benchmark of Seton Keough’s Guidance office. This is reflected in the fact that the 140 graduating seniors in the class of 2008 were accepted into 93 different colleges and universities.
