Guidance and College Placement

The guidance office, staffed with two full-time, experienced counselors, offers support for students throughout their entire four years at Seton Keough. The guidance office offers: individual and group counseling, college counseling, a junior college planning seminar, service learning opportunities, and a peer mediation program.

For the last several years, 100 percent of the graduating seniors were accepted into college. The college process begins during the freshmen year, preparing students for the adjustment into high school and continues until they are seniors. Juniors attend a junior seminar where they begin to research college choices as well as work on their college applications. All English classes in the fourth quarter of junior year work on essay assignments to prepare students for the written portion of the SAT and to write college application essays.

Naviance college search software has been added to the guidance office, which is a web-based system that allows students and guidance counselors to search, organize, analyze and personalize the entire college process. Students are able to access this information from home. Personalized attention is the benchmark of Seton Keough’s Guidance office.
