Graduate Profile
A place of faith, inclusion, and academic success, Seton Keough graduates are well prepared for their futures. Learning in an all-girls, Catholic school, Seton Keough graduates have developed leadership skills and integrity integrating the teachings of their Catholic faith based on the charisms of the school’s founding orders: the Daughters of Charity and the School Sisters of Notre Dame.

A Seton Keough Graduate

  • Is a young woman who has grown in her faith and is able to integrate her Catholic heritage into the needs and complexities of the world into which she will become an adult.
  • Is a young woman of honor and integrity and has developed a strong character and leadership abilities to stand up to injustice, dishonesty, and corruption.
  • Is a young woman who has a compassionate heart. She has been exposed to new cultures, religions, and individuals from different socioeconomic backgrounds, and will use her many talents to reach out and serve others.
  • Is a young woman who is confident in her intellectual abilities, is able to ask questions, speak up, and think independently.
  • Is a young woman who has been enlightened with self-discovery and welcomes the opportunity to try new things and develop new talents and interests.
  • Is a young woman who understands her academic successes are her own responsibility and will continue to be an active learner throughout her life.

Highlights from Spring 2009:

  • Over 99 percent of the members of the Class of 2009 were accepted into college with one student electing to join the workforce.
  • Forty-nine students received a total of 175 scholarships.
  • Total dollar amount offered in scholarships and grants: $3.2 million dollars.
  • National Merit Scholarship Program—two Commended Scholars
  • Eleven Maryland Distinguished Scholars: Semifinalist: Laura Stein; Honorable Mention: Elizabeth Amann, Christina Ankrum, Lauren Bambarger, Erin Boots, Julie Buonato, Natalie Demyan, Katelyn Fischer, Courtney Kane, Brittany Kozlewski, and Maria Payne.
  • Four Maryland Distinguished Scholars for the Talent in the Arts: Honorable Mention: Elizabeth Amann, vocal music; Erin Boots, dance; Janine Fields, drama; Martha Schulenburg, instrumental music; and Ayomide Sokoya, visual arts.

Complementing our academic credentials is an outstanding Fine and Performing Arts Program:

  • The Seton Keough Concert Band is the largest and most commended all-girls band in
    the Archdiocese of Baltimore. In March 2009 the concert band received an Excellent rating and a Second place finish at the Fiesta Val Music Festival in New York. The Honors Choir received an Excellent rating and a First place in their category and the A Cappella Choir received an Excellent rating and a First place finish.
  • Four Seton Keough students represented Seton Keough at the Towson University Junior/Senior Honors Band. Seniors Erin Boots (percussion), and Meghan Furth (saxophone), and Martha Schulenburg (bassoon), and junior Emily King (percussion) performed with other band students nominated from high schools in a three-state area.
  • The Theatre program produced a spectacular version of Beauty and the Beast in the fall and a wonderful rendition of Cheaper by the Dozen last spring. The theatre department also produced the Variety Show last February. In Fall 2009 the Theatre Department will produce
    The King and I.

Athletic Highlights from 2008-2009:

  • Basketball: IAAM Champions, ranked #1 by the Baltimore Sun, and #12 in the country by MaxPrep. Won the Bishop Walsh Tournament in March beating the #1 team in the Washington, D.C. conference, Good Counsel. On Sun., April 5, the Seton Keough varsity basketball beat the #7-ranked team in the country, Riverdale Baptist, 44-42 to win the ESPN Rise Invitational Tournament. This was a national tournament of only four girls teams.
  • Indoor Track: Finished 2nd in the IAAM Championship.
  • Swimming: Finished 3rd in the IAAM 'B' Championship.
  • Cheerleading: Eastern Cheer and Dance Association (ECDA) Small Varsity National Champions.
  • Outdoor Track: Finished 2nd in the IAAM Championship.
  • Softball: IAAM 'A' Champions, ranked #2 by the Baltimore Sun.

All-Metro, All-City Selections:

  • Volleyball: Sierra Myles All-City First Team.
  • Basketball: Senior Asya Bussie was selected the All-Metro Player of the Year in girls basketball by the Baltimore Sun and Coach Jackie Boswell was selected as the All-Metro Coach of the Year. Senior Katelyn Fischer and sophomore Amber Singletary were selected to the All-Metro Second Team. Asya and Coach Boswell were also selected All-City Player of the Year, and All-City Coach of the Year. Asya, Katelyn, and Amber were selected to the All-City First Team.
  • Indoor Track: Senior Chelsea Tavik was selected to the All-Metro First Team. Seniors Chelsea Tavik and Leila Forrester were selected to the All-City First Team.
  • Softball: Sophomore Megan Hyson was selected to the All-Metro First Team. Senior Carly Reed was selected to the All-Metro Second Team. Megan Hyson named the All-City Player of the Year. Coach Jackie Boswell named the All-City Coach of the Year. All-City First Team: Megan Hyson, Stephanie Martin, Courtney Cane, Kerri O'Malley, Carly Read, Robi Zimmerman, Taylor Kairos, and Bridget O'Malley.
  • Lacrosse: Junior Jen Mendez was named to the All-City First Team.
  • Track and Field: All City First Team: Leila Forrester, Amber Singletary, and Chelsea Tavik.
