Graduate Profile
A place of faith, inclusion, and academic success, Seton Keough graduates are well prepared for their futures. Learning in an all-girls, Catholic school, Seton Keough graduates have developed leadership skills and integrity integrating the teachings of their Catholic faith based on the charisms of the school’s founding orders: the Daughters of Charity and the School Sisters of Notre Dame.
A Seton Keough Graduate
- Is a young woman who has grown in her faith and is able to integrate her Catholic heritage into the needs and complexities of the world into which she will become an adult.
- Is a young woman of honor and integrity and has developed a strong character and leadership abilities to stand up to injustice, dishonesty, and corruption.
- Is a young woman who has a compassionate heart. She has been exposed to new cultures, religions, and individuals from different socioeconomic backgrounds, and will use her many talents to reach out and serve others.
- Is a young woman who is confident in her intellectual abilities, is able to ask questions, speak up, and think independently.
- Is a young woman who has been enlightened with self-discovery and welcomes the opportunity to try new things and develop new talents and interests.
- Is a young woman who understands her academic successes are her own responsibility and will continue to be an active learner throughout her life.
Highlights from Spring 2010:
- One hundred percent of the Class of 2010 is college bound!
- Total dollar amount offered in scholarships and grants: $6.67 million dollars. Over 200 scholarships were offered and 78 percent of students attending 4-year colleges recieved scholarships.
- The Class of 2010 earned 12,556 hours of service to the community.
- Maryland Distinguished Scholars for Academic Achievement: Honorable Mention: Kelsey Coyle, Monica Dickerson, Katherine Lakomy, Cara Marshall, Jamie Mutolo, Anne Ponton, Denise Rivera, Samantha Seitz, Jessica Smith, Kristen Szczeszek, and Jennifer Tomasic.
- Maryland Distinguished Scholar for Talent in the Arts: Honorable Mention: Ashley Davis, vocal music; Ashley Eckhart, dance; Emily King, instrumental music; Jamie Lewis, visual arts; and Katherine Whitman, drama.
- Senior Samantha Setiz received appointments from both the Air Force Academy and U.S. Naval Academy. She will be attending the Naval Academy in the fall of 2010
- Senior Emily Stumme was selected to attend Google’s Computer Science Summer Institute (CSSI). This is a competitive program where only 25 students throughout the world are selected to attend an all-expenses-paid, three-week computer science institute at Google’s headquarters in Mountain View, California this summer. Emily will be attending St. Mary’s College of Maryland in the fall of 2010 and will major in Computer Science. As a student who declares Computer Science as their major, Emily will be offered acceptance into the Google FUSE program for 2011.
Complementing our academic credentials is an outstanding Fine and Performing Arts Program:
- One third of the Seton Keough student body participates in music. The Seton Keough Concert Band is the largest and most commended all-girls band in the Archdiocese of Baltimore. In March 2010 the Seton Keough Concert Band, Concert Choir, and A Cappella Choir competed in the Williamsburg Music Festival and received superior ratings from the judges, the highest rating possible. In addition, the choir won first place in their division and won the Grand Champion trophy.
- The Theatre program produced a spectacular version of The King and I in the fall and a wonderful rendition of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory last spring. The theatre department also produced the Variety Show last February.
Athletic Highlights from 2009-2010:
- Volleyball: The varsity volleyball team came in second in the IAAM championships.
- Indoor Track: Finished 3rd in the IAAM Championship.
- Outdoor Track: Finished 3rd in the IAAM Championship.
- Softball: Ranked #4 by the Baltimore Sun, lost to Spalding in the IAAM Championship 4 to 3 in extra innings. JV softball IAAM JV Softball champions with a 7-1 record.
- Golf: Sophomore Abbey Brown took the individual championship with a 93. Golf placed 3rd in the IAAM Championship.
All-Metro, All-City Selections and IAAM All-Stars:
- Field Hockey: IAAM All-Stars: seniors Tori Lycett, Emily Stumme, and Jennifer Tomasic.
- Volleyball: IAAM All-Stars: juniors Adama Aja and Elizabeth Brown.
- Basketball: Junior Achiri Ade has been selected by the Baltimore Sun to the All-Metro, First Team. IAAM All Stars: Juniors Amber Singletary and Achiri Ade.
- Indoor Track: IAAM All-Stars: senior Kellie Sydnor, junior Dara Parker, and freshman China Davis.
- Lacrosse: IAAM All-Star: senior Jen Mendez.
- Softball: All-Metro Second Team: Robi Zimmerman. IAAM All-Stars: freshman, Mikki Kouneski, sophomores, Robi Zimmerman and Bridet O’Malley, and junior Taylor Kairos.
- Golf: IAAM All-Star Abbey Brown
