Music and Fine Arts
Continuing its mission to welcome and embrace students of diverse talents, Seton Keough has an excellent Fine Arts program. Whether your interest is playing a musical instrument, singing, or art—painting, drawing, design, photography, or sculpture— Seton Keough has introductory, advanced, and AP classes to inspire you. Seton Keough students each year are named Maryland Distinguished Scholars based on their participation in its Fine Arts program.
Music at Seton Keough is an academic subject. Students progress more rapidly and achieve excellence by having music education and lessons every day. The Seton Keough concert band is the largest and most commended all-girls band in the Archdiocese of Baltimore. The A Cappella and Concert choirs were asked to perform with the National Philharmonic at Strathmore Hall in Bethesda, Md. the last two years. The choirs were selected based on years of Superior Ratings. Seton Keough offers Honors Music Theory for students interested in pursing music as a major in college. Unique to Seton Keough, the music department officers Applied Piano and Applied Voice, which allows students to take individual lessons.
The art department offers classes from basic drawing and design to advanced photography, advanced ceramics, and honors and AP Fine Arts Studio for students who wish to study art in college. The art department has two large studios with a kiln for ceramics and a photo lab. Under the English department, students can take a class in publication design that prepares and produces the school yearbook The Phoenix.

Clubs and Activities
In any given school year Seton Keough has 20 to 30 clubs based on student interest. Clubs such as the book club, environmental club, games club, student council, and It’s Academic appeal to a wide variety of interests. SALT (Serving and Leading by Teens), Vincentian Youth Outreach Club, and Campus Ministry provide students with leadership and community service opportunities. The school schedule is structured so that clubs meet during class time every other week ensuring that every student has an opportunity to become involved in the school.
The Seton Keough Theatre Department has a superior reputation in the Baltimore area for its drama and musical productions. Each year the Theater Department offers three productions: a musical, a drama, and a variety show. Under the umbrella of the Theater Department students can tryout for the dance troupe, which choreographs and performs in the musical and variety shows, or join the stage club crew building sets and coordinating the sound and lights for each production. Seton Keough is a member of a regional theater club made up of area Catholic high schools, which is working to coordinate theater schedules of area schools and provide more theatrical opportunities for more students.

Seton Keough Athletics (For more Information about Athletics visit the Athletic portion of the Seton Keough Web site)
Seton Keough’s athletic tradition is built on the principal of providing opportunities for a diverse population of students to become involved in sports, learn teamwork and leadership skills, and achieve their best. Yet despite this humble goal, Seton Keough and its founding schools have been a dominant force in high school athletics in the Baltimore area for decades. Seton Keough has 18 competitive teams in 12 sports. In the past several years, Seton Keough’s athletic teams have been at the top of the rankings in basketball, lacrosse, cross country, indoor and outdoor track, and softball. The Athletic Director and Assistant Athletic Director were both named All-City Coaches-of-the-Year by the Baltimore Sun during the 2005-2006 school year.
Seton Keough’s student-athletes are consistently named to All-City and All-Metro teams and to the IAAM All-Star teams. However, in order to have a premier athletic program, academics must come first. All Seton Keough athletes must maintain their academic eligibility to participate in sports. Because of Seton Keough’s stringent standards, its student-athletes are also honored as Academic All-Americans and Heisman Trophy state finalists for the best student-athlete in the state of Maryland.
At the end of each school year, Seton Keough honors its student-athletes. All the achievements from the year are highlighted including the students who received athletic scholarships to college. But the highest honors go to the students who have demonstrated self-less leadership, team spirit, dedication to the school, and academic achievement. In athletics, as in all things at Seton Keough, students are challenged to become women of honor.
