Alumnae Roots
Along the rocky, windswept coast of northern California Giant Sequoia trees have grown for hundreds of years. Because of the landscape, the trees have roots that lie just below the sandy soil. These majestic trees are able to stand tall because they grow only in groves and their roots intertwine, so when strong winds blow they hold each other up. It’s all about the root system.
At Seton Keough our alumnae – Seton High School alumnae, Archbishop Keough alumnae, Seton Keough High School alumnae – are our root system. The three schools have intertwined over the years providing values, traditions, history and a treasure trove of wonderful memories. The alumnae – all of you – will allow today’s Seton Keough High School to grow and thrive no matter how strong the winds because you are the roots that support us.
We must rejuvenate the Seton Keough Alumnae Association and find ways to increase the involvement of our younger alumnae. We need your expertise on School Board committees, in the alumnae associations, and in the science and fine arts initiatives that the school is undertaking. So the work never ends and we are open to your thoughts and ideas and support.
The journalist and author Hodding Carter Jr. wrote that “there are two lasting bequests we can give our children. One is roots. The other is wings.” If you, as alumnae, will continue to provide the roots that make this school so special then the faculty, staff and administration of Seton Keough High School will provide the wings that will allow our young women to soar into the future and become the best they can become.
