Distinctive Scholars Honored
The Distinctive Scholars Convocation was held on Tues., April 29 at Mercy High School. The Convocation is held each year by the Archdiocese of Baltimore to honor outstanding graduating seniors who best exemplify academic excellence and leadership. This year’s honorees from Seton Keough are Colleen Shea, Jackie Ward, and Katie Sacker. Mrs. Bisceglia created a slide show of the evening.

Seton Keough at the Papal Mass on Thurs., April 17
Each Archdiocesan school received a small number of tickets to the Papal Mass on Thurs., April 17. The tickets were available on a first-come, first-serve basis. The following Seton Keough students attended with Campus Minister and Religion Teacher Ms. Mary Pat Tilghman: Jane Schaeffer, Stephanie Ciesielski, Katie Savin-Murphy, Kristen Steinman, Kristina Ramos, and Sam Eberhardt. Tri-M Music Honor Society Inductions
On Tues., April 15 the following Seton Keough students were inducted into the Tri-M Music Honor Society: Abigail Agriesti, Elizabeth Amann, Erin Boots, Erin Brooks, Sydney Brown, Katherine Calais, Caitlin Cromer, Kara DeBoy, Meghan Furth, Ariel Lawver, Rebecca Reed, Melissa Rynkiewicz, Sheena Sanchez, Martha Schulenburg, Sarah Triplett, and Mary Beth Wickless. Tri-M is the international honor society recognizing secondary music students for their musical ability, academic excellence, school involvement, and community service. In addition, the following seniors received their pink tassels to be worn with their cap and gown at graduation: Erin Brooks, Caitlin Cromer, Kara DeBoy, Christina Fox, Ashley Huber, Diane McGrath, Ericka Micciche, Lauren O'Neil, Jasmine Redd, Sheena Sanchez, Danielle Schultz, Caitlin Treuth, and Lindsay VanAsdalan.

Mrs. Myra Perel Selected as the 2007-08 Archdiocesan Teacher-of-the-Year
On Thurs., April 10 the Archdiocese of Baltimore gathered to honor outstanding teachers throughout the Archdiocese. Mrs. Myra Perel was selected at Seton Keough's Archdiocesan Teacher-of-the-Year. Mrs. Bisceglia created a slide show of the evening.

National Honor Society Induction Ceremony

On Thurs., March 13, members of the junior and senior classes were inducted as members of the National Honor Society. Students are inducted into the NHS for their mastery of wisdom, character, scholarship, leadership, and service.

The Kathleen Bowen Walk for Hope
What a fantastic day on Wed., March 5! The school community raised over $20K in the first Annual Kathleen Bowen Walk For Hope to raise money for two Seton Keough students suffering from cancer. WBAL TV covered the story and Mrs. Bisceglia created slide shows of the day. The slide shows are available on the Photo Web Gallery page.

Senior Erin Brooks signs with Wake Forest
On Thurs., Feb. 28 senior Erin Brooks signed her letter of intent to attend Wake Forest University on a full scholarship next year. WJZ TV covered the story for the nightly news.

Seton Keough's Basketball Team 2nd in the IAAM Championship

The Seton Keough varsity squad lost a heartbreaker on Sun., Feb. 17 to St. Francis in overtime 43-39 in the IAAM Championship game. It was a huge blow to the talented team that went into the post season undefeated in conference play, ranked #1 in the Baltimore area, #1 in the state of Maryland, and ranked #25 nationally by ESPN. The team handily beat both St. Paul's and McDonogh to advance to the championship game.

Seton Keough Senior Earns Girl Scout Gold Award
Seton Keough just received notice that senior Kristen Steinman earned her Girl Scout Gold Award. The Gold Award is the equivalent of Eagle Scout rank in the Boys Scouts. Kristen's service project was to develop a program to create greeting cards for area nursing homes and shut-ins.

The Indoor Track Team Wins the IAAM Championship
On Fri., Jan. 18 Seton Keough's Indoor Track team beat out top-ranked McDonogh to win the IAAM Championship for the second year in a row. Senior Erin Brooks was key to propelling the Gators to victory. >>Read the story in the Baltimore Sun.

Seton Keough's Varsity Basketball

The varsity basketball team is having a tremendous season. They are ranked #1 by the Baltmore Sun and #3 in the state of Maryland by USA Today. Seton Keough has Five Students Participate in Towson University
Junior/Senior Honor Band
The Seton Keough Concert Band had five students participate in the Towson University All Junior/Senoir Honor Band held on Sat., Dec. 8th. Abigail Agriesti (trombone), Ashley Huber (Euphonium), Ericka Micciche (Bass Clarinet), Rebecca Reed (Trombone) and Martha Schulenburg (Bassoon) were chosen by Dr. Dana Rothlisberger, conductor of the Towson University Wind Ensemble, for their high proficiency on their instrument. Students participated in a day-long rehearsal followed by a concert of the Junior/Senior Honor Band and the Towson University Wind Ensemble.

2007 Seton Keough Scholars in Fall of 2007

  • Senior Colleen Shea was named a Commended Scholar by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation. The following seniors have been recognized by the Maryland Distinguished Scholarship Program: Melissa Bobby, Christina Fox, Katherine Sacker, Jessie Sapunar, Elizabeth Schneider, Kristen Steinman, Emily Ulrich, Lindsay VanAsdalan, Megan Voorhees, Jacquelyn Ward, and Rebecca Ward.
  • Senior Colleen Shea has been recognized by the Maryland Distinguished Scholarship Program as a semifinalist.
  • In addition, the following graduates from the class of 2007 were named to the national Achievement Scholarship Program for scoring either a 4 or 5 on the AP exams last spring: Kristen McMahon, and Meghan Madden. Stephanie Velky was named an AP Scholar with Honor.

Kathy Bowen, Campus Minister, Passes Away
On Thur., June 21, the school's beloved campus minister, Kathy Bowen passed away after a courageous battle with cancer. Please keep Kathy and her family in your prayers.

Seton Keough's Concert Band Receives First-Place

Seton Keough’s concert band came in first place and received an excellent rating at the band festival in New York City on Fri., March 23.

Ms. Ronnie Follan named Teacher-of-the-Year
Ms. Ronnie Follan, Director of Marillac Services, has been named Catholic Teacher-of-the-Year for the State of Maryland by the Knights of Columbus Maryland State Council. Ronnie will be honored on Sun., March 18 at the Knights of Columbus annual Founders Day Mass and banquet. Ronnie was co-selected for this honor out of 142 nominees. Mr. and Mrs. David Shultz nominated Ms. Follan for the award. Last Friday they visited Seton Keough to present her with the news. You may view a photo of them on the Seton Keough Web site.

Seton Keough Students Receive Service Award from Catholic Charities
Catholic Charities awarded Seton Keough students the Anne Lindsey Otenasek Youth Service Award last Fri., Jan. 19 at their annual dinner to honor distinguished volunteers. Seton Keough was honored for its work visiting the elderly at Caritas House and for hosting the annual senior prom. Sports News

  • The Seton Keough Indoor Track Team won the IAAM Championship on Fri., Jan. 19 upsetting #1 ranked McDonogh 145 to 129. This is the first time in school history the track team has won this event. They are currently ranked #1. Read about it in the Baltimore Sun.
  • Back-to-back Baltimore Sun Athletes-of-the-Week: Sophomore Asya Bussie and junior Erin Brooks were named the Baltimore Sun’s Girls Athlete-of-the-Week for the weeks of January 17 and 24. Asya Bussie was named for her outstanding play in basketball against McDonogh. Erin Brooks was named for her contribution to Seton Keough securing the Track Championship. Seton Keough Scholars Named in Fall 2006

In addition, the following students (including graduates from 2006) have been named to the National Achievement Scholarship Program: Cathryn Doyle, Juliana Fernandes, Jacqueline Kearney, Jessica Kociolek, Megan Madden, Samantha McElvaney, Kristen McMahon, Eileen Muckenhirn, Allison Smith, Stephanie Velky, and Maria Valderas. These students scored either a four or five on the AP exams last spring.

Seton Keough will follow Baltimore County Schools (non-Hereford District) regarding delayed openings and closings. If Baltimore County schools are not in session due to a regular day off, but Seton Keough is open, we will post our status on WBAL-TV 11 and WBAL-Radio AM 1090, and WBAL's closings webpage.
