What’s New With You…?
The following alumnae have told us their “story” since the last issue of Seton Keough News went to press. You may update your information online on the Seton Keough Web site and tell us your story so that we can share it in future issues of Alumlines e-newsletter and Seton Keough News.
Seton
Sr. Kateri Sullivan S'33
Three members of the class of 1933 entered the Sisters of Mercy. Sr. Avita, D.C. almost got us into the Daughters of Charity. Myself, Sr. M. Frieda Chetelat, and Sr. M. Thomas Zinkand. Sr. Mary Thomas passed away two years ago. She was the director of Mercy Medical Center for 37 years.
Margaret (Peggy) Hess Kiser S'46
Peggy passed away on June 6, 2007 of pancreatic cancer. Her husband writes, "She dearly loved Seton High School and supported it annually. She was very proud of the fact she graduated from Seton. I will pray for the continued success of Seton Keough High School."
Patricia Sipes Shiflett S'53
Patricia writes about her friend Annette Defina Strauch S’53: John and Annette are world travelers. Where they haven’t been is not worth seeing. Their home was at one time scheduled to be demolished and they bought it and restored it to its present beauty. They are in constant contact with their children and grandchildren between jaunts. Annette and I have been friends since first grade. I have also been friends since first grade with Sr. Bernice Feilinger, S.S.N.D., Mary Anderson Perry, Mary Tarntino Cohen, and Audrey Stack Keller. In August my husband and I celebrated our 50th wedding anniversary. We have seven children and 29 grandchildren.
Constance Dougherty Mucha S’56
My first book “Gently Grieving: Taking Care of Yourself by Telling Your Story,” was published by Paulist Press in May of 2006. I gave a signed copy to each of my classmates at our 50th reunion. I lived at Seton from Sept. 1952 to June 1956. It was one of the most memorable experiences of my life. I was also in the first graduating classes of Loyola’s Doctoral Program in Pastoral Counseling.
Bernadette Johnston Benson S’57
I plan on visiting my sister, Mary Pat Johnston Marzullo S’58 in Baltimore for the 50th reunion of the Seton Class of 1957 in early October 2007. This will be the first time in years when I’ve been able to attend a reunion. I am looking forward to visiting Mary Pat and her husband Tony and family and my former classmates!
Mary Anne Ellis Wilburn S’58
My husband Donald Frank Wilburn passed away of lung cancer on All Saints Day, Nov. 1, 2006.
Susan Golden S'61
I've recently launched a new Web site: www.universalmusicday.org and would like to invite everyone to join as charter members and help this become an annual event. Earth Day started 37 years ago and people are finally taking the Earth and environment seriously. It is my hope that the same happens for music and Universal Music Day.
Celeste Wimmer Walter S’63
Greetings to all in the Class of ’63. Our birthdays are adding up too quickly and it’s almost time for another reunion. I’m working at the W.A.G.E. Connection, Harford County Department of Social Services as a counselor and case manager. It’s the most challenging and rewarding work I have ever done as our team helps recipients of public assistance move toward self-sufficiency. I wish I could send all of them back to school…preferably at Seton Keough! Observing their needs always reminds me of the great education the Daughters of Charity provided at Seton. We were well prepared for work and college. I am looking forward to our reunion in 2008!
Rita Connor S’64
My general science class with Sr. Imelda at Seton was the beginning of my interest in science. I went onto receive a degree in Biology from Mt. St. Agnes College and then began a 24-year career in cytotechnology….Cytotechnologists, known affectionately as “cell detectives” need to be conscientious and patient as they examine cell samples looking for maybe that one and only cell that will diagnose cancer. They must care about people, want to help others, and respect life. They need to be able to work alone or with others. Seton encouraged all of the traits mentioned above plus the love of learning…Seton encouraged a sense of mission, vocation, (Jesus’ call of compassion toward the sick and poor). I am now left with a great feeling of satisfaction since I worked for a government agency serving the health care needs of the indigent.
Betty March Eversmier S'64
I married Albert J. Eversmier Jr. on June 2, 2007 at St. Joseph's Church in Odenton, Md. It is the second marriage for us both. We both lost our first spouses. Needless to say, we are both happy to have someone in our lives again.
Victoria (Vicki) Kramer Lockwood S’69
I taught kindergarten at St. Michael in Overlea for seven years. Currently, I am teaching for Baltimore County at Cromwell Valley Elementary Regional School of Technology in a split position—special education teacher and reading specialist. This is my third year in that position following three years as first grade teacher and one as a librarian/media specialist. I have been married for 35 years to Neil Lockwood and have two grown sons, Sam and Scott. No grandchildren—yet!
Bridgette Gwaltney Kendall S’84
I am proud of my daughter Lauren Gray who will be graduating with the Seton Keough class of 2008. We are all so proud that she will be graduating from my family’s Alma mater. Besides myself, several of us have graduated from Seton and Archbishop Keough: my niece Kimberleigh Jackson, K’88, two cousins: Lisa M. Lewis S’86 and Traci Moody Dula S’85, and Lauren's godmother Michelle Conaway Landen K’82.

Archbishop Keough
Diane Stang Nicolai, K'69
Diane and her husband, Joseph Lee Nicolai (Cardinal Gibbons '68), have lived in Halethorpe for 30 years. They are excited to be first-time grandparents! Their daughter, April Jill, had her first baby, adorable Gabriel Lee Harris, on December 14, 2006. He was eager to meet everyone and came a month early! Grandchild #2-courtesy of their oldest son, Anthony Lee, and his wife, Colleen-is expected in March.
Deborah Baurenschub Duncan K’71
After 35 years, I have decided to return to school to pursue my bachelor degree in elementary education. My husband Tom and I have a daughter Katie. Deborah and her family live in Tennessee.
Cindy Stone Miccio K’74
This was sent in by Connie Rauser Sheckler about her friend and classmate Cindy Miccio: We graduated from Archbishop Keough in 1974 and both went on to become employees at the Social Security Administration. Cindy, the owner of eight Great Pyrenees champion show dogs, wrote a three-page article that was featured in “The Great Pyrenees Annual 2006.”
D.J. Shugars K'75
I recently moved back to the Baltimore area from New York. I had been working as VP of Marketing for Mediacom Communications, but am now looking for a new opportunity in Maryland.
Mary Patricia Tracey Proescher K’75
My youngest daughter, Shari, graduated from Berkeley Springs High School on May 25, 2007. My oldest daughter Jenn just celebrated her 27th birthday on May 30, 2007 and is due on November 13, 2007 with her first child, my first grandbaby!! I am very excited and hoping for time to fly. My son Nick will be 29 on June 16, 2007 and is married to Tammi. He purchased a condo at the beach and is successfully employed with Flavor Co. My husband Mike has retired after 32 years of work with the Baltimore City Fire Department. Now we point our rocking chairs towards the West and enjoy the tranquility of “almost heaven” West Virginia.
Lilly Dorsey K'78
I am the mother of three lovely children. My oldest son is 27, and I have a set of boy-girl twins who are 20 years old. I'm currently working in a treatment facility for addictions. Too blessed to be stressed at this point in my life, so everything is well. Praise God.
