An Open Letter to Students and Faculty
from the Seton Keough Campus Ministry Office:

Dear Friends in Christ:

Peace be with you! As the new academic year begins, we want to introduce ourselves and briefly explain how the Campus Ministry Office here at Seton Keough hopes to serve you in Christ this coming year.

To begin, we are reminded that all our work must have its origin in and focus on God, who is LOVE. God wants each one of us to learn about His love and to bring that knowledge into our daily lives. Our faith in Christ forms us and should inform all that we do. We are challenged daily to be a part of building up God’s kingdom here and now.

Students are formed in the faith here at Seton Keough in a variety of ways. Our Religion classes help enrich our understanding of God, Sacred Scripture, our tradition of Christian faith, and our spirituality. In an ever-changing, sometimes chaotic world, that understanding grounds us in the certainty and constancy of God’s love. Indeed, all the staff and faculty here take faith formation very seriously.

The Campus Ministry Office will endeavor to nourish both students and faculty in faith in a number of ways:

  • Liturgical Celebrations and Prayer Services: Vibrant Mass celebrations and spirit-filled prayer services bring us in touch with the Divine. We invite all those interested in serving as liturgical ministers – as lectors, readers, Eucharistic Ministers, music ministers, etc., or in planning our celebrations, to join our newly formed campus “Worship Team”. Contact Ms. Rochelle Hubbard at rhubbard@setonkeough.com.
  • Class Retreats: All classes will go on retreat this fall, where the focus will be on fun, building community, and personal faith growth. Be prepared to be silly, to stretch your comfort zone in prayer, and to be open to the Spirit. Teachers have already started forming teams, but peer ministers are what make retreats fantastic. Please get involved.
  • Service and Advocacy: We are planning a variety of social justice activities to serve the poor and needy in our community—as Christ calls us to do. During the second semester, we will volunteer at a local food source for persons with cancer and AIDS. All are welcome to serve.
  • Spiritual Guidance/Pastoral Care: Please seek us out!

Please let us know how the Campus Ministry Office can best serve your needs and/or the needs of our school community. Please keep us in your prayers, as you are in ours.

Blessings in Christ,

Father Gerald Kasule, Campus Chaplain
Mary Pat Tilghman, Campus Minister
Rochelle Hubbard, Campus Minister
