If you're reading this, you must already know that knowledge of another language fosters greater awareness of cultural diversity among the peoples of the world. You must also know that it facilitates the exchange of ideas and information in the fields of commerce, science, the arts, diplomacy and technology. It also allows people to communicate informally.
But did you also know...
- At Seton Keough, students are exposed to all four aspects of foreign language study (speaking , listening, reading, writing) in Level I.
- Textbooks have been carefully chosen to reflect the philosophy of promoting communicative skills and aiming for proficiency.
- Our teachers create a warm, friendly environment so that all students will feel comfortable enough to speak in the target language.
- Teachers are always available to offer extra help or just to chat with students.
- Our language lab offers the opportunity for students to practice the target language and to listen to native speakers. The exposure to different accents and dialects is important and the lab is an excellent way for students to gain this experience.
- Classroom learning is often enriched through the use of videos, documentaries, music, art, literature and technology.
- Students are encouraged to be creative. They often write their own skits and dialogs, make oral presentations or other projects that enhance the classroom learning.
- Cooperative learning and teamwork is encouraged in all Spanish and French classes.
- Cultural awareness is promoted and discussed often.
